California Lifeline Home Broadband Pilot

The California LifeLine Home Broadband Pilot is a new statewide program that helps eligible households lower the cost of home internet service.

The California LifeLine Home Broadband Pilot is separate from Federal Lifeline, though some households may qualify for both benefits depending on program and provider rules.

Who is Eligible?

You may qualify for the California LifeLine Home Broadband Pilot if your household meets California LifeLine eligibility requirements.

You may qualify based on your household income or if you participate in certain public assistance programs, such as:

  • Medi-Cal
  • CalFresh (SNAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Other eligible assistance programs

Federal Lifeline icon

Federal Lifeline

Federal Lifeline is a federal program that helps eligible households lower the cost of phone, internet, or bundled service.

Eligible households may qualify for an additional discount of up to $9.25 per month toward qualifying phone, internet, or bundled service. Households on qualifying Tribal lands may be eligible for a higher monthly discount.

Only one Federal Lifeline discount is allowed per household. Check with your provider to find out whether Federal Lifeline can be applied to your internet plan and whether it can be combined with other available discounts.

T-Mobile Project 10Million provides free internet support for eligible K–12 student households. The program offers internet access for eligible students to help support learning at home.

Families may be asked to provide proof that their student qualifies for the program, such as participation in the National School Lunch Program or another qualifying program.
