    What is the Tech on Wheels Program?

    Tech On Wheels is a mobile technology center that travels throughout Riverside County’s 5th District offering free digital literacy training, basic tech support, onsite internet access, and device assistance right in your community.

    Who can use the Tech on Wheels services?

    Tech on Wheels serves District 5, including Moreno Valley, Hemet, Beaumont, San Jacinto, Banning, Calimesa, and nearby neighborhoods but all Riverside County residents are welcome to stop by for help. Our services are free and open to everyone, regardless of age, income, or experience level. Whether you're new to technology or just need a little help, we’re here for you.

    What kind of help can I get at the Tech on Wheels van?

    You can get help with: 

    • Learning basic computer skills (email, internet browsing, Zoom, etc.) 
    • Setting up your smartphones, tablets, or laptops
    • Applying for internet discount programs 
    • Troubleshooting tech issues (slow devices, app installations, password resets) 
    • Help finding important online public services and resources 

    Can you help me with my device?

    Absolutely! While we don’t fix or repair devices, we can show you how to use your smartphone, tablet, or laptop from navigating the internet to adjusting your settings. Feel free to bring your device with you. 

    How much do the services cost?

    Everything is completely free. This free program is designed to help close the digital divide and ensure every resident can access the tools they need.

    Do I need to make an appointment?

    No, we welcome walk-ups when the van is at an event or scheduled stop. Visit the Tech on Wheels Events page to view the upcoming schedule.

    Where can I find the Tech on Wheels schedule?

    You can visit our Tech on Wheels Events page to see upcoming stops, community events, and special training sessions. We update the calendar regularly.

    Can community organizations request a Tech On Wheels visit?

    Yes! Nonprofits, libraries, schools, senior centers, and other community groups can request a visit by filling out our Partner Request Form. We’re happy to collaborate on events and outreach.

    Do you offer support in Spanish or other languages?

    Yes, we have bilingual staff and materials in both English and Spanish. Let us know if you need assistance in another language and we’ll do our best to help.

    What should I expect when I visit the van?

    You’ll be greeted by a friendly digital navigator who’s ready to help with everyday tech questions like how to use your phone, get online, or access useful apps and websites. We can walk you through short lessons, help you get comfortable with your device, or connect you with other helpful resources. We also have easy-to-follow “how-to” guides you can take home to keep learning at your own pace.

    What kinds of digital skills can I learn?

    We offer support for beginners and beyond, with easy to follow help on topics like: 

    • Computer and Smart Phone Basics 

    • How to browse website and use search engines

    • Setting up and using emails 

    • Staying safe and protecting your privacy online

    • Using Microsoft Word and Excel

    • Working with Google Docs and Sheets

    • Joining video calls on Zoom or other platforms

    • Navigating social media

    Whether it's your first time or you just need a refresher, we're here to help! 

    Can I get help applying for affordable internet?

    Absolutely. Our team can help you find affordable internet options available in Riverside County. You can also contact our call center (866-922-1016) for enrollment help.  

    What if I have no tech experience at all?

    That’s okay! We specialize in helping beginners. There’s no such thing as a silly question, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

    Is Wi-Fi available at the van?

    Yes, free Wi-Fi is available onsite at every stop so you can browse, learn, or download information while visiting.

    How long should I plan to stay during a visit?

    Visits can be as short as 10–30 minutes for quick questions or troubleshooting. If you're attending a training session, expect to stay about 30–60 minutes. You're welcome to drop in at any time during posted hours.

    Is there a limit to how many times I can get help?

    No. You’re welcome to come back as often as you like. Whether it’s your first time or a regular visit, we’re here to help.

    What if I need more advanced tech help or repairs?

    While Tech on Wheels provides basic troubleshooting and digital skills support, we know some issues may require more advanced assistance. If your device needs professional repair or technical support, we can help connect you with reputable local services in Riverside County including Best Buy’s Geek SquadStaples Tech Services, and trusted local shops like Riverside Computer Center. Let us know what you need, and we’ll help point you in the right direction.

    Do you offer printed materials or guides I can take home?

    Yes! We offer printed how-to guides on everyday topics like setting up email, staying safe online, and using the internet. Spanish materials are available upon request. You can also find more how-to guides and learning resources on our website at www.rivcoconnect.org so you can keep learning anytime, at your own pace.

    Can I get help with job applications or resumes?

    Yes! We can help you search online job boards, complete applications, and create basic resumes using Google Docs or Microsoft Word.

    What if I can’t come to the van—are there other ways to get help?
